New woodworking plant

Fuel pellets are produced in Boksitogorsky district

A new production plant manufacturing fuel pellets was launched in Boksitogorsky district of Leningrad region. The Governor of the region Alexander Drozdenko participated in the opening ceremony of the non-waste woodworking plant.

Alexander Drozdenko said that by 2020 not less than 80% of all extracted timber must be processed by the enterprises of Leningrad region.

“Each new production line brings us closer to this aim. Together with organization of non-waste wood processing, modernization of production includes creation of new jobs for the citizens of Boksitogorsk, additional taxes to the budget of the district and the region, new stimulus for development of Boksitogorsky district,” commented the head of the region.

MM-Efimovsky LLC, which is a part of Mayr-Melnhot Holz Concern, is planning to produce 57.6 tonnes of pellets annually. Investments in adjustment of the new production line came to 850 million rubles, 327 new jobs was created at the plant.

Fuel pellets are made of waste products of lumber for construction and furniture. MM-Efimovsky is among top-10 of leading exporters in Russia in terms of the volume of production of dry lumber. The company delivers its high-quality wood boards for construction of private housing and furniture to Western Europe and Southeast Asia.

According to the request of the Administration of Leningrad region the company is engaged in reforestation and annually replenishes not less than 900 ha of forest resources.
