Ust-Luga is a new economic centre of the region

The port of Ust-Luga in Leningrad region has transshipped more than 100 million tonnes of cargo for the first time in its history.

“Leningrad region is executing an order of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on strengthening Russian transport and logistics infrastructure in domestic water area of the Baltic Sea. Advance development of the modern port of Ust-Luga, construction of new terminals and a unique marshalling yard will allow seizing the initiative from the Baltic dock workers.

In the medium term the dynamically developing port of Ust-Luga will contribute to industrial growth in this area. Key subjects such as Baltic LNG, Baltic Carbamide Plant, plant for production of ammonia and other plants will be constructed here. Ust-Luga has already become a new economic centre of Leningrad region and in future it will strengthen its positions,” commented the Governor Alexander Drozdenko.

According to the Administration of seaports of the Baltic Sea, the turnover of the port of Ust-Luga came to 103,294 thousand tonnes in January-December 2017 which is 11% more than in 2016.

The port of Ust-Luga is the largest and deep water port in the Baltic Sea, including Baltic countries and Finland. Today the port, established in 2000, unites 12 terminals, an industrial park, modern marshalling yard and a city for employees.
