Leningrad region is one of the leaders in terms of growth rate of housing construction.
Leningrad region is not only one of the largest industrial centres in Northwestern federal district, but also a large and rapidly developing region attractive for work and life. In 2019 2,930,200 m2 of housing was constructed (the planned index for the year – 2,917,000 m2).

Leningrad region is a large educational centre of Northwest Russia.
There are 382 independent organizations operating in the sphere of preschool education: 245 organizations in urban settlements and 137 organizations in rural area.
The number of children in preschool educational organizations is 85,150 people, including 60,121 people in urban settlements and 25,029 people in rural area.
The number of teachers in all types of preschool educational institutions is 8,501 people.

In 2018/2019 academic year 29 educational organizations (28 public and 1 private) implement secondary vocational education programmes.
The number of students in these institutions is 15,261 people: 15,024 students in public and 237 students in private organizations.
Besides, secondary vocational education programmes are being implemented by 1 higher education institution with 3,928 students.
In 2018/2019 academic year specialists with higher education are prepared by 1 public educational institution of higher education and 7 branches of public and 2 branches of non-public higher education institutions with the total number of students 7,780 people.
