Wood processing industry

The wood processing industry of Leningrad region includes enterprises dealing with timber processing, the manufacture of wood products, paper and paper goods, wood furniture.

The Association “Wood Processing Industry Cluster” was established in Leningrad region in order to create conditions for efficient interaction of the participants of the wood processing cluster. The Association provides methodical, organizational, expert and analytical, informational support to the development of the cluster.

Government support

Government support at the regional level:

  • reduction of corporate income tax (from 17% to 13.5%)
  • reduction of corporate property tax (from 2.2% to 0%)
  • reduction of corporate income tax within special investment contract (SPIC) (from 17% to 5%) and reduction of corporate property tax (from 2.2% to 0%)

Government support at the federal level:

  • provision of loans with the rate from 1 to 5% per annum for 5 years amounting from 50 to 500 million rubles (Industry Development Fund)
  • partial reimbursement of expenses on research and development in priority directions of civil industry within the frameworks of implementation of comprehensive investment projects
  • partial reimbursement of expenses on implementation of comprehensive projects on creation of hi-tech production with participation of Russian higher education organizations, state scientific institutions
  • provision of forest plots for implementation of priority investment projects in the sphere of forest development without bidding procedures on preferential terms of rent

Projects

Timber industry enterprises of Leningrad region implement projects on expansion and modernization of production, including:

  • Leader: project on reconstruction of a furniture production plant for production of coniferous wood goods (chairs)
  • Smurfit Kappa Saint Petersburg: project on modernization and expansion of production of corrugated cardboard packaging and packaging for food products
  • Syassky Pulp and Paper Mill: project on expansion of production capacity and manufacture of new products
  • IKEA Industry Tikhvin: expansion of own production
  • Lesplitinvest: project on creation and development of production of interior doors and door moldings
