China occupies the first place among partner countries of Leningrad region in terms of cargo turnover, export and import.
Trade turnover between Leningrad region and China amounted to 1,052.4 million USD (15.6% of foreign trade turnover of Leningrad region) over three quarters of 2020.
The volume of export from Leningrad region to China amounted to 637.2 million USD (15.8% of export of Leningrad region).
New opportunities for strengthening bilateral cooperation between the regions of Northwestern federal district and China were discussed during a special online seminar with participation of Consul General of China in Saint Petersburg Wang Wenli.
Director of Economic Development Agency of Leningrad Region Anastasia Mikhalchenko told about priority spheres of economic cooperation. She noted that this year, despite the pandemics, trade turnover with China has increased by 20%, export and import has increased by 29% and 7% respectively. Today Chinese investors are implementing projects in Leningrad region in the sphere of real estate, food and wood processing industries. Large-scale investment projects launched in the region open new opportunities for both Russian and foreign companies. In particular, extensive work was launched on implementation of the largest project in Russia – a complex for processing ethane-containing gas and production of liquified natural gas near Ust-Luga and establishment of the territory of advanced development.
