Finnish Business Forum

03-12-2021

The 10th Business Forum brought together Finnish and Russian companies on one platform for the tenth time. Head of the Investment Projects Support Department Anna Medvedeva took part in its work.

The agenda included discussion of promising areas of cooperation. The participants did not ignore long-term trends, in particular, sustainable development. “Finland and Russia now share common global goals regarding the imminent green transition,” emphasized Finnish Minister of Economy Mika Lintilä in his video greeting.

As Anna Medvedeva noted, the mayor of Lahti  Pekka Timonen shared an interesting experience of introducing green technologies. He emphasized in his report the importance of cooperation between the city and business for the successful development of the economy and nature of the region. The Leningrad Region is very interested in the successful practices of Finland in the field of "green" economy. We hope to be able to learn more about the region's experience.

We also discussed those industries where the localization of Finnish business is most noticeable. For example, in the field of timber industry. “The situation on the market for timber, sawn timber and wood products is really favorable, and it looks like it will continue to remain so favorable for companies,” said Jaakko Laurila, General Director of “Ponsse” LLC, located in the Leningrad Region.

“As the 10th Finnish Business demonstrated, sentiment remains high despite the pandemic. Restoring the conditions for business travel is very important, even though the new skills of remote work are already well established for everyone. Nothing can replace personal meetings and personal conversations, ”the Consul General of Finland in St. Petersburg Sannamaria Vanamo recalled in her closing remarks.
