Follow-up SPIEF: Subtotals – look into the future

The results of the 24th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum were summed up during a discussion of foreign business associations.

The Russian-German Chamber of Commerce, the American Chamber of Commerce in Saint Petersburg (AmCham) and Kommersant Publishing House organized an event “Follow-up SPIEF: Subtotals – look into the future” for discussion of the results of SPIEF together with the representatives of the economic team of the Government of Leningrad region.

Deputy Chairman of the Government of Leningrad Region – Chairman of the Committee for Economic Development and Investment Activity Dmitry Yalov said that Leningrad region has improved its positions in the National Investment Climate Ranking and occupied 10th place. First of all this is the result of the re-engineering of the services for business: the number of procedures required for receiving a construction permit was reduced, quick registration of property rights was arranged. Besides, business appreciated creation of feedback channels between the authorities and business of Leningrad region, operational interaction during the pandemics.

St. Petersburg International Economic Forum provided 1 trillion 32 billion rubles to the investment portfolio of Leningrad region.

Over two days of participation in the business program of the forum the region concluded 30 agreements, most of them are investment ones.

The largest among the concluded agreements is the project on gas and chemical complex of RusGazDobycha that is a part of the Complex for processing of ethane-containing gas in Ust-Luga. The volume of investments is 868 billion rubles. Another large project – construction of a methane production factory and a port terminal for its transshipment with the volume of investments amounting to 132 billion rubles by EuroChem. 10 billion rubles will be invested by InvestBugry in the development of an industrial park. Besides, several investors confirmed their intention to expand production by conclusion of agreements – Dairy Factory, Orient Products, Smurfit Kappa RUS, Technopark Marienburg, Cherkizovo, etc.

This year Leningrad region presented not only industrial but also tourism projects during SPIEF. For example, an agreement on the development of resort complexes in Lomonosovsky and Vsevolozhsky districts was concluded, the region entered an inter-regional project of RZD-Invest on the development of yacht tourism in Leningrad region.
