Leningrad region is among the industrial leaders

Leningrad region entered top 20 regions with the efficient implementation of industrial policy.

The results of the rating of 2020 were presented by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia during the International Industrial Trade Fair INNOPROM-2021 in Ekaterinburg.

Leningrad region entered twenty most efficient industrial regions and occupied 14th place.

The efficiency rating was presented to the regions for the first time. It was prepared by the Ministry of Trade to analyze the implementation of the regional industrial policy, to determine the efficiency of the applied government support tools and to find the best practices. The regions are evaluated in four directions: economic development indicators, interaction with the relevant federal ministries, development of the regulatory framework and regional measures of support for industry, as well as business activity, youth policy and industrial tourism.

Leningrad region showed positive results in the industry by the end of last year. The industrial production index in Leningrad region amounted to 98.6% which corresponded to the general characteristics of the Russian industry. The index in manufacturing industries amounted to 100.2% by the end of last year. And according to the results of five months of 2021, the growth of the index amounted to 106.3%.

In 2020 the regional law on special investment contracts (SPIC 2.0) was adopted. Investors introducing modern technologies included in the list approved by the Government of the Russian Federation can receive tax benefits on income and property. Another law – about regional investment projects (RIP) – stimulates the creation of new industrial enterprises and expansion of already existing ones. The volume of investments for RIP starts from 50 million rubles, and the corporate income tax is reduced to 10%.
