Anastasia Mikhalchenko moderated the plenary session of the conference "Oil terminals and oil depots 2021: operation, modernization, development" and spoke about the investment projects planned in the Leningrad Region in the gas chemical industry.
The petrochemical complex is one of the priority sectors for the development of the region as of year-end of 2020. Such giants as “EuroChem”, “Novatek”, “Fosagro” operate in the Leningrad Region.
The volume of shipped products of the petrochemical industry for three quarters of 2021 exceeds the annual indicator of the pre-pandemic year of 2019 and amounts to 407 billion rubles.
In the first half of 2021, the volume of investments in fixed assets of the chemical industry almost tripled compared to 2020.
Needless to say, the participants were greatly interested in the largest investment project in Europe - the Ethane-Containing Gas Processing Complex in Ust-Luga.
The EGPC will include an integrated complex for the processing and liquefaction of natural gas and a gas chemical complex.
The gas processing complex will become the most powerful enterprise in Russia in terms of gas processing and the largest in terms of liquefied natural gas production in the region of North-Western Europe.
In turn, the gas chemical complex will become the world's largest polyethylene plant with a capacity of up to 3 million tons of finished products per year, this is the largest unit capacity in terms of polyethylene production in the world.
The Ministry of Economic Development of Russia has already developed a draft resolution on the creation of a special economic zone of industrial-production type "Ust-Luga".
“The Oil Terminal” conference was held for the 16th time. The business program was dedicated to topical issues in the industry. And certainly, the opportunity to tell about the investment environment of the region, the services of the Economic Development Agency of the Leningrad Region, to get acquainted and attract new companies is important for us. We have already agreed on further negotiations with one of the participating companies.
