Port prospects of the region

First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Economic Development and Investment Activity of Leningrad Region Egor Mishcheryakov participated in the international conference “Development prospects of the Great Port of Saint Petersburg”.

The conference was held for the thirteenth time. It was organized by Marine Petersburg News magazine with the support of the Marine Council under the Government of Saint Petersburg, Commercial Seaports Association and Port Hamburg Marketing e.V.

Various aspects of the development of marine transport infrastructure in Russia and the Baltic Sea countries, interaction of ports with shipowners, harmonization of transport legislation and procedures were discussed during the conference.

Egor Mishcheryakov told about new port terminal projects in Leningrad region – the development of the commercial seaport of Ust-Luga, Primorsk and Vysotsk ports. Currently, the Government of Leningrad region together with the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation is working on the creation of a port special economic zone in Primorsk and the possibility to create an industrial SEZ in Kingiseppsky district for localization of gas and chemical production plants both export- and import substitution-oriented.

The prospects of development of the port territories with a total area of more than 4,900 ha will contribute to the attraction of large Russian and foreign companies interested in the implementation of investment projects in the gas and chemical industry.
