85% of foreign companies are planning to continue investing in the economy of Leningrad region. This index has grown by 5% in 2020.
The results of the annual survey among the members of the Association of European Businesses concerning satisfaction with the investment climate of the region were presented during a meeting of the AEB and the Investment Team of the Government of Leningrad Region:
- 65% of the respondents define investment climate as “good”
- 15% as “excellent”
General trend of assessment of investment climate:
- 20% note improvement of investment climate
- 55% – insignificant improvements
- nobody noted any deteriorations
The companies highly estimated open dialogue between business and regional authorities, especially in conditions of pandemic, constructive approach, a large number of business support tools, large investments in development of port infrastructure.
Director of Economic Development Agency of Leningrad Region, a public representative of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives Anastasia Mikhalchenko noted that, even despite the pandemics, this year the Agency concluded 35 agreements on investment projects support. Investors have a request for comprehensive support – selection of land plots, receiving tax benefits, export, assistance with cooperation ties.
It is worth mentioning that the number of investors who receive current information about investments in the region from the Agency, has grown by 30%, and now the share of this communication channel is 70%.
The economic team of the Government of Leningrad Region presented new measures of support and approach to work with investors.
During the panel discussion “Investments in stable development of the regions: post-COVID reality” representatives of business, public organizations and economic team discussed trends and initiatives of companies in the sphere of environment and development of territories.
