Shipbuilding industry of the region

Vyborg Shipyard launched its new large fishing vessel. Construction of the vessel under KMT01 project Norwegian Sea started on 29 January 2018 and it is the second of four vessels being built by Vyborg Shipyard on a turnkey basis. The series of vessels was ordered by Arkhangelsk Trawl Fleet which is a part of North West Fishing Consortium.

Each vessel under this project will be equipped with a modern last-generation trawl complex and a fish processing factory able to process up to 160 tonnes per day. The vessel was constructed for work in the Northern fishery basin.

Construction of these vessels is carried out within the programme of “investment quotas” stimulating placement of orders on fishery vessels at the domestic shipyards.

More than 4,500 people work in the shipbuilding industry of Leningrad region. According to the results of 2018 the volume of produced goods exceeded 8.5 billion rubles and investments in development of the branch exceeded 8 billion rubles.
