Ultramar terminal in Ust-Luga accepted its first freight train

26-06-2020

The first freight train arrived to the terminal of Ultramar in Ust-Luga by a new railway line.

The terminal located on the shore of the Gulf of Finland is expected to become the largest terminal in Europe for fertilizers transshipment. The planned annual capacity is up to 25 million tonnes of fertilizers.

34 dome-shaped warehouses will be constructed in a small area. Due to environmental dome technology fertilizers will not be contacting environment.

“We are resolving the issue of transshipping fertilizers through “one-stop-shop”. There is no need to allocate land plots on the shore, that is enough for the largest manufacturers. The project allows carrying out all export transshipment of fertilizers in Russian ports. We execute an order of the President Vladimir Putin announced at the session of the Council for Development of Transport Infrastructure in Kaliningrad. A fishing village Vistino, which used to be famous for its very delicious sprats in Soviet times, receives a new impetus for development”, emphasized Alexander Drozdenko.

Economic Development Agency of Leningrad Region provides support for implementation of the project.
