Boksitogorsky District is located in the eastern and southeastern parts of Leningrad Oblast. To the east, it borders Vologda Oblast, and to the south – Novgorod Oblast. To the west and northwest, its territory adjoins Tikhvinsky District.

Infrastructure: The district's territory is crossed from west to east by railway and road highways connecting Saint Petersburg with Vologda. The total length of roads in Boksitogorsky District is 1,377 km, of which 7% are federal, 35% regional, and 58% local, including roads within populated areas. There are 8 railway stations located on the district's territory.
Economy: The basis of the district's economy is industry, accounting for 94% of the total volume of goods produced, work performed, and services rendered. For 2025, shipped goods of own production, work and services performed by own enterprises amounted to 42,463 million rubles (for 2024 – 41,828 million rubles, for 2023 – 36,523 million rubles).
