Lodeynopolsky District is located in the northeast of the Leningrad Region, in the interfluve of the Svir and Oyat rivers. It borders the Republic of Karelia (Olonetsky District) to the north, Podporozhsky District to the northeast, Tikhvinsky District to the south, and Volkhovsky District to the southwest of the Leningrad Region. To the west, the district's territory is washed by the waters of Lake Ladoga.

Infrastructure: Rail and water transport mainly play the role of transit transport in the direction Saint Petersburg – Karelia – Murmansk and other northern territories.
The federal highway P-21 "Kola" (Saint Petersburg – Murmansk) runs through the district. This highway connects Lodeynoye Pole with the federal city of Saint Petersburg and with neighboring regions: the Republic of Karelia and the Murmansk Region. Regional roads connect all administrative centers of settlements with the administrative center of Lodeynopolsky District – Lodeynoye Pole, as well as with neighboring municipal districts and further with other regions, such as the Vologda and Novgorod regions.
Economy: The basis of the economy of Lodeynopolsky District is industry, which creates a significant part of the turnover of the district's organizations and is the main source of filling the local budget. The share of industrial production in the total volume of shipped goods of own production, work performed and services rendered by own enterprises is 66.1%.
