Housing construction

Leningrad region is one of the leaders in terms of growth rate of housing construction.  

Leningrad region is not only one of the largest industrial centres in Northwestern federal district, but also a large and rapidly developing region attractive for work and life. In 2020 2,375,900 m² of housing was constructed.

Education

Leningrad region is a large educational centre of Northwest Russia.

Preschool education

There are 477 independent organizations operating in the sphere of preschool education in 2019/2020 academic year.

The number of children in preschool educational organizations is 87.2 thousand people.

Basic general education

There are 370 general education institutions operating in the region under the programs of primary, basic and secondary general education:

• 361 state and municipal organizations, the number of students is 167,000 people, the number of teachers – 9,900 people
• 9 private organizations, the number of students is 900 people the number of teachers – 100 people

Vocational secondary education

In 2019/2020 academic year 46 state and municipal educational organizations implement training programs for skilled workers, employees and mid-level specialists.

The number of students in these institutions is 18,998 people, more than 3,700 specialists have graduated.  

Higher education

In 2019/2020 academic year specialists with higher education are prepared by 8 state and municipal educational institutions. The total number of students 6,717 people, more than 1,089 specialists have graduated.
