The Governor Alexander Drozdenko offered five territories for construction of a modern port for transshipment of chemical fertilizers.

A working group for detailed study of these five sites for possible location of a port was established by the order of the head of the region according to the results of a meeting with Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Yuri Tsvetkov and representatives of URALCHEM and Uralkali. Two sites are located in the mouth of the Luga River and in Primorsk, Vysotsk and Vyborg ports.

“Our experts and representatives of the companies will carry out comprehensive analysis of all sites in terms of water depth, infrastructure, transport accessibility and legal issues. We hope that in three or four months investors will make their choice,” said the Governor.

Development of port activities is taking place according to the 204th Decree of the President of the Russian Federation which involves growth of transshipment in the Russian ports in the near future.
