Green energy is coming to Leningrad region

Creation of wind farms and hydroelectric power stations in Leningrad region can be a promising direction for German investments.

On the whole, the region is ready to become a platform for the implementation of the projects in the sphere of renewable energy.

The Governor of Leningrad region Alexander Drozdenko told about that during a conference on strategic cooperation between Russia and Germany.

Leningrad region already has experience of cooperation with Germany in the sphere of technology transfer – Siemens Gas Turbine Technologies located in the region assemblies wind turbine gondolas for Azov Wind Farm and Kolskaya Wind Farm.

Besides, several companies already consider the possibility to locate wind parks in Leningrad region: TGC-1, Wind Power Station Sviritsa, Enel Group of Companies. These projects are now at the initial phase of implementation.

According to the Governor, a promising direction is the creation of micro hydroelectric power stations for the production of green hydrogen for both local markets and export. Eight hydroelectric power stations already work on the vast network of rivers in Leningrad region. Alexander Drozdenko also reminded the foreign colleagues that the region has an efficient system of investors support: Economic Development Agency of Leningrad Region works as the “one-stop-shop” for investment projects support, several tax benefits are available for investors, SPIC 2.0 will be adopted this spring.
