How to enter Chinese market

The participants of the round table “Export chains to enter Chinese market” noted that 2019 is a perfect time for expansion of economic cooperation between Leningrad region and China.

 “The People’s Republic of China is an important and prospective partner for Leningrad region. We think that 2019 is very suitable for taking a leap forward in our economic relations, because 2018 and 2019 were announced the Years of Russian-Chinese Interregional Cooperation,” noted the first Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Economic Development and Investment Activity of Leningrad Region Anton Finogenov.

Economic and Commercial Consul of the People’s Republic of China in Saint Petersburg Ms. Luo Xin emphasized that the Chinese Government does not support tariff and non-tariff restrictions in trade between the countries. “The doors to China will never be closed, they will only become wider,” said Luo Xin.

Director General of Industry Development Centre Andrey Pivinsky told about measures of support provided by Leningrad region to exporters. Services are available for entrepreneurs on the basis of Export Support Centre being established in the region. These measures include export audit of an enterprise, marketing research, business missions, support of e-commerce, etc.

Co-chair of the group on implementation of projects of the Secretariat of SCO Business Council Sergey Averin noted that a specific characteristic of a Chinese consumer is careful examination of a product before purchase. That is why companies entering Chinese market should be ready that one of the biggest expenses is marketing and promotion, and brand promotion cost will be high.

The head of the Department of foreign economic activity and regional cooperation of Leningrad Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry Liliya Arakelova shared experience of cooperation and support of enterprises of Leningrad region while entering the Chinese market.

The event was organized by Economic Development Agency of Leningrad Region and Chinese Business Centre.
