Launch of the first phase of a new PhosAgro factory

New ammophos production lines started operating at the site of Volkhov branch of Apatit.

The Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov and the Governor of Leningrad region Alexander Drozdenko participated in the launch of the first phase of the new PhosAgro plant for production of mineral fertilizers in Volkhov.

Denis Manturov thanked the management of the region and PhosAgro for implementation of the modern project and added, that the project is among the first to use the mechanism of agreements on protection and promotion of investments (APPI) and is included in the list of enterprises implementing corporate competitiveness improvement programmes.  

The capacity of the new production lines is almost 300,000 tonnes of ammophos per year– nitrogen-phosphorus fertilizer demanded at the Russian market and abroad. Two more production sites are being currently created within the investment project. The final stage is launch of a line for water-soluble ammophos production. Besides, complete modernization of sulfuric and phosphoric acid production is being carried out.

The volume of investments in the new project will exceed 28 billion rubles. By 2023 the capacities of the new production will allow the chemical complex in Volkhov to increase the annual output of production by more than 4 times – up to 880,000 tonnes of fertilizers, 300 highly qualified jobs will be created. The construction is carried out using the best available technologies. The new factory will correspond to the Russian and European norms of the environmental legislation. In 2018–2020 the company has spent more than 1.5 billion rubles for protection of environment.

The new PhosAgro factory for production of mineral fertilizers and a power station are being constructed within the long-term strategy of PhosAgro Group up to 2025.
