The Governor noted that German business is an important partner of Leningrad region. Dozens of German companies work in the region, and the most important thing is that this is a two-way cooperation which is profitable for both Russian and German sides.

For example, Knauf Petroboard in Gatchinsky district has invested in improvement of environmental security of production and reconstructed its waste water treatment plants. Cesla Cement Plant in Slantsy was the first in Russia to equip a mobile product quality control service. Siemens Gas Turbine Technologies is preparing to deliver wind turbines to the Russian market.

Alexander Drozdenko added that the economic partnership between the parties is based also on development of business contacts, and the most efficient platform for this are joint business events, in particular the Baltic Region Investment Forum, one of co-organizers of which is the German-Russian Chamber of Commerce.

Stefano Weinberger, in his turn, mentioned similar interests in the economy, youth exchanges, culture and other spheres. One of important components, according to the Consul General, is town twinning between Leningrad region and Germany which allows actively involving a civil society in these relations.
