Leningrad region is in the top 10 in terms of the quality of life

Leningrad region occupies the 7th place among all regions of the Russian Federation in the regional ranking of the quality of life.

In this ranking, prepared by RIA Novosti, the region has improved its position by one point over the year, remaining in top 10.

The ranking was prepared with the analysis of 70 indicators which characterize the main aspects of the quality of life in the region, in particular, income of the population, employment and labour market, living conditions, safety, health and the level of education, the level of development of economy and small business, etc.

The experts note that the regions of top 10, including Leningrad region, are characterized by the high level of economic development. About 40% of the total GRP of the Russian regions, of the retail trade turnover and investments in fixed assets belong to these regions.

According to the data of 11 months of 2019, the average salary of one employee in Leningrad region has increased by 2.3% and amounted to 47,360 rubles. By the end of 2020, the industrial production index at the manufacturing enterprises of the region amounted to 100.2% in comparison with the previous year.

Despite the current restricted conditions of work, in 2020 the number of the subjects of small and medium-sized business in Leningrad region has increased by 1% and amounted to 64,410, the number of middle-sized enterprises has increased by 16% and amounted to 250, today 27,767 people work there which is 21% more than in 2019. The retail trade turnover in Leningrad region has increased by 6.5% in 2020 in comparison with 2019.
