Exchange of experience of interaction with investors and foreign economic cooperation were discussed during a meeting with the delegation from Bukhara region of the Republic of Uzbekistan which took place in the Committee for Economic Development and Investment Activity of Leningrad Region.
First Deputy Chairman of the Committee Anton Finogenov welcomed the participants of the meeting.
Deputy Head of Bukhara region Botirzhon Shakhrierov noted that tourism and construction are actively developing in the region. Bukhara is a historical centre of Uzbekistan, it is under protection of UNESCO. One of the largest projects is Bukhara City – a modern residential and business centre, the project is planned to be implemented in 2023.
According to the results of 2019, trade turnover between Leningrad region and the Republic of Uzbekistan amounted to 44.9 million USD, having increased by 7.7 million USD (20.6% growth) in comparison with 2018, mainly due to export of such goods as paper and cardboard, products made of them; products made of stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, mica and similar materials.
Acting Director of Economic Development Agency of Leningrad Region Evgeniy Zotov told about investment potential of the region and measures of support for investors. The guests expressed interest in measures of support for the residents of the territory of advanced social and economic development Pikalevo.
Director of Industry Development Centre of Leningrad Region Olga Volkova noted that exporters to Uzbekistan can receive all measures of support from Export Support Centre.
Active networking for Leningrad and Uzbek companies was an important part of the meeting. Representatives of chemical and oil processing industry, pharmaceutical industry, food and light industry had an opportunity to exchange contacts in order to discuss cooperation.
