Port development prospects in Leningrad region and Saint Petersburg

Port development prospects in Leningrad region and Saint Petersburg were discussed during a big industry conference.

First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Economic Development and Investment Activity of Leningrad Region Egor Mischeryakov participated in the conference.

There are two largest and actively developing port areas in Leningrad region: near Ust-Luga – Ust-Luga seaport, and near Vyborg – seaports of Vyborg, Primorsk and Vysotsk.

In 2019 cargo turnover of the seaports in the region amounted to 185.5 million tonnes of various cargo, which is 22% of the total cargo turnover of all seaports in Russia.

Egor MIscheryakov noted that today the Government of Leningrad Region together with the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation is developing the possibility of creation of a port special economic area in Primorsk and of a territory of advanced development in Kingiseppsky district for localization of gas and chemical production plants focused on both export and import substitution.

Today 7 investment projects with the total volume of investments amounting to 382.4 billion rubles are being implemented in Ust-Luga, Primorsk and Vysotsk. The team of Economic Development Agency of Leningrad Region provides support to the investment projects.
