Leningrad region has significantly improved its positions in the Ranking of Innovative Regions in Russia –it climbed 14 lines and occupied the 36th place among all Russian regions. The results of the Ranking of 2018 were presented during Gaidar Forum.
“Leningrad region has both opportunities and mechanisms for development of innovations. We have already started introducing several innovative projects of digital economy. They include digitalization of public services, creation of “smart cities” in Sosnovy Bor and Gatchina, establishment of a data-centre in Kirishi,” noted the Governor of Leningrad region Alexander Drozdenko.
The region also announced joint personnel training for innovative industries carried out together with ITMO University, implementation of a project on creation of innovative cluster in an industrial park in Tosnensky district.
One of important aims of the regional Government is creation of optimal business climate for attraction of hi-tech productions and innovative start-ups. Innovative activities in the region are supported by specialized regional development institutions: Industry Development Centre of Leningrad Region, Lenreginnovations, North-West Technology Transfer Center.
