If you have already recovered from the prolonged winter and are ready to go hiking, we recommend going on a short weekend trip along the ecological trail "Cancer Lakes". The trail is located in the Vyborg district, 106 km from St. Petersburg, but the pleasure that ecotourists will get from a walk is worth car candles or a ticket for a Saturday train. The ecotrope begins behind the village of Mushroom, the territory of Okhotye, at the barrier.
On the way, stretching for 8.3 km, you will encounter, as in a fairy tale, three beautiful lakes – Bolshoe Rakoe, Maloe Rakoe and Okhotye. The mirrors of the lakes attract waterfowl and near-water birds, many of which are listed in the Red Books of Russia and the Leningrad Region. Spring bird noise and uproar is guaranteed.
The ecotrope is equipped with a wooden deck that allows you to walk directly over the water. There are several ornithological towers on the route, from which it is very convenient to admire birds, take picturesque selfies, and also view the vast swampy distances. Walking along the trail in summer, you can observe the interesting processes of shallowing and overgrowing of reservoirs.
Please note that the reserve is closed to the public from April 1 to July 15.
Have a nice walk!
